This accelerated 3-hour course provides a comprehensive overview of FEMA’s IS-100, IS-200, and IS-700 independent study programs, which introduce the fundamentals of the Incident Command System (ICS) and the National Incident Management System (NIMS). Participants will gain a foundational understanding of the organizational structure and operational protocols used to manage emergency incidents of all types and sizes.

Topics include:

  • ICS principles, structure, and key roles (IS-100)
  • Chain of command, span of control, and leadership within ICS (IS-200)
  • NIMS concepts and how they integrate with local, state, tribal, and federal response (IS-700)
